I'm Deepu, a generalist software engineer in London. I build backend systems, the frontends on top of them, and the infrastructure they run on.
Currently a Senior Software Engineer at CAIS, working on alternative investments. Previously Principal Engineer at Funding Circle, where I built the data platform.
About
I wrote my first code in Logo and BASIC at school, aged ten, and got hooked. I've been building software professionally since 2008, and in fintech since 2018.
I like to take an idea, conceptualise it and make it a reality, with a focus on simplicity. I prefer functional programming; Clojure(Script) is still my favourite, though day to day I work in Kotlin and TypeScript, and I reach for Java, Scala, Python, Go or Terraform when they fit the problem better. I enjoy building backend systems most (Kafka, microservices, APIs), but I care about the frontend too.
I'm originally from Kozhikode, Kerala, India, and live in London. I've used Dvorak and Emacs since 2013.
